Family Room Update with Overstock

If you follow along on Instagram, you know my family room has felt “off” to me for a long time. Ok, for years. I’ve been tweaking it for years now and annoying thousands of people with my design and layout dilemmas. I’m sorry. lol But those days are gone! I partnered up with Overstock to update my space and guys- I finally got it right!! And just in time for the holidays! It’s a Christmas miracle!!

I love it! The biggest problem area for me in here was getting the room balanced. I’ve got a long sofa and a chair and a half on the opposite end of the room. A rectangular coffee table always felt too skinny for the space. I searched for square coffee tables, round coffee tables, but nothing felt right.

I found the Brayden Coffee Table on Overstock.com and fell in love. But again, it wasn’t wide enough to fix my balance problem. Then I had the idea of adding two of those coffee tables to the space and BINGO! Every seat now has easy access to a coffee table surface, the room feels balanced, I’ve got my square shape… all is right in the world of family rooms. It looks really pretty too if I say so myself.

Oh and can we talk about both of these faux trees?! They’re so good and so realistic! I went with the Super Deluxe Ficus Tree for all year round. I love the look of a large tree to add some life to a space. This one will never die on me and will look beautiful every day! AND the price is crazy good for a tree this size! Then I chose the Frasier Grand Hinged Pre-Lit Tree for the holidays. We usually get a real tree, but I saw this one and knew we wouldn’t miss the pine needles. It’s absolutely stunning! (My children decorated the tree. Didn’t they do a great job?!)

Now let’s talk about these incredible Safavieh Soleil Leather Woven Accent Chairs!! The woven leather adds such great texture and the rich color of the wood is so pretty. I love the lower profile, the wide seat, and oooh baby’s got back!!

No update is complete without some “room jewelry” so I chose some pretty pillows and curtains to finish off this warm and inviting holiday look.

I went with lots of greens, creams, and beiges to make my home feel winter ready this year. The deep green of the velvet pillow adds some cozy luxe to this space. I paired it with the spearmint green striped pillows. Don’t be afraid to mix different shades of the same color. It actually adds interest and keeps your room from feeling too matchy-matchy. For a final pop of fun winter texture, I added the faux fur pillow to the chair. The other side has a pretty print as well so I can change the look up when the mood strikes.

For the final piece of room jewelry, I swapped my white curtains for these classic linen blend panels. They add a touch of warmth to the room to tie in with the darker wood tones, and their subtle texture is so pretty too. Side-note: they’re super affordable! Curtains can get $$ fast.
